Abstract
Injecting and coating treatment with triazole growth retardants, uniconazol and BAS-111 markedly reduced stem elongation of specially pre-cooled Apeldoorn tulips, but coating application of BAS-111 at 0.1 §·. bulb^(-1) was less effective in stem extension. From anthesis to senescence of flower, each internode length markedly increased. The higher concentration of uniconazol and BAS-111, the greater the effect in stem retardation. Uniconazol and BAS-111 did not delayed anthesis compared to control, except for injecting BAS-111 at 1.0 §·. bulb^(-1) . Uniconazol and BAS-111 did not reduce the flower size. Flower longevity was not significantly different by each growth retardants and applied methods.
It is, therefore, concluded that coating or soaking treatment of uniconazole and BAS111 can be used effectively for the potted tulip plant production.
